With petroglyphs dating back somewhere between 400 CE and 1450 CE, along with remnants left behind by late 19th-century ranchers, Honey Bee Canyon is perfect for a midday stroll. Trekking through the arroyo will lead you to the ruins of a dam once used by ranchers to provide water for grazing cattle and sheep. While cattle no longer roam the area, you may spot the occasional coyote, javelina, bobcat, mountain lion — or perhaps even a man ironing.
The northern trail through the Sausalito Creek Wash leads to the petroglyphs created by the Hohokam people. One can only imagine the tools they relied on to press their garments.
